Tego - 25 Years Chemistry with Imagination!

“Chemistry with Imagination” was at the heart of corporate strategy from the start and made Tego a national and international leader in the coatings industry. In October 1984 Th. Goldschmidt AG founded Tego Chemie Service GmbH in Essen. Operations commenced in January 1985. The newly established marketing company consisted of just a few employees. Their know-how in the field of silicone resins developed by Th. Goldschmidt soon enabled the company to expand its activities beyond the confines of the Ruhr. The first regional sales team was set up in the USA in the year following the formation of the company.

After continuously increasing turnover in the late eighties, Tego also gained a foothold in the Asian market which, alongside the USA, has become a mainstay for the company. China, in particular, is considered a market for the future.

The high interest in innovative products is reflected in the huge number of samples sent out every year – currently some 40,000 in environmentally-friendly packaging.

As a world-leading supplier of speciality chemicals, Evonik offers Tego ideal surroundings for path-finding research and development. Tego uses this knowledge to benefit customers by offering tailor-made solutions. Today, Tego products are available from numerous subsidiaries. Customers almost everywhere can be punctually supplied and provided with competent technical support through 10 Technical Service Centers. Since the end of 2009, Tego has had its own laboratory in India.

The current range of the Essen company comprises some 200 products: “To develop so many products and market them successfully requires not just creativity but also a healthy dose of coatings expertise and team spirit“, stated Wernfried Heilen, Vice President Technical Service/- Marketing.

Around 120 employees in Essen together with colleagues all over the world continuously strive to develop and improve innovative technologies in the field of additives and speciality resins to enable us to continue actively supporting our customers in the future.
